Weekend Recipe: Sausage Balls

It’s getting a little cooler in September, so baked sausage balls are starting to sound pretty good!  Be forewarned that if

you make these sausage balls, none will be left!  This is a recipe men, women, and children all love- can’t go wrong!

Sausage Balls

  • 2 lbs sausage (I like Jimmy Dean)
  • 2 lbs grated Colby-Jack cheese
  • 2 c Bisquick

It’s easy to remember because everything is a 2!  Anyway, it’s kind of like making a meatloaf- it’s best if you just discard all jewelry and get your hands in there and mix it up really well.  You want to make sausage balls that will stick together, so make sure you spread out that bisquick.  Once its mixed really well, form 1-inch wide balls and place them on a non-stick baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.  You’ll end up with several dozen sausage balls.  Bake them at 350 for 15 minutes or until browned.  I usually have paper towels spread out on plates and drain them since some of the grease will drip out.  You’ll feel better about eating them if you know you got rid of a little of the fat!

*Tip: Best served warm, though they do refrigerate and reheat well.
