Thanksgiving

The Evolution of Turkey Day

Thanksgiving has really evolved over the years.  It used to be that the women on the McCord side of the family would slave away at a truly delicious meal, complete with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, assorted salads, and every pie imaginable, of course!  We would all sit down to eat in the afternoon, and immediately afterwards, they would shove off to go hunting!  One year, I had had enough, so Billy, Emily, and I all went with Bill!

More recently, Bill and I have hosted Thanksgiving at our house and many of his brothers and sisters and their families would come.  Usually, Billy and his family visit Becky’s family for Thanksgiving because that’s when the majority of her family gets together.  So, last year, many were out of town, but we had Emily’s family and Josh’s parents and sister!  It was fun for all!  Well, this year, Josh and Em and kids are starting off in Victoria, so we will be traveling there for Thanksgiving!  This is a first- heading to deer-abundant south Texas and NOT for hunting!

You might recall this sweet invitation…who could say no?
