Some Counter-Intuitive Tips!

I recently read these tips in a magazine article- they were so counter-intuitive, I had to share!  Take what you will from them.  😉

  1. Avoid cervical cancer by doing relaxing activities, such as knitting or scrapbooking.  Studies show that stress leads to weaker immune systems which do not let you fight off the HPV virus, the main culprit in cervical cancer.  So, do more stuff that relaxes you.
  2. Enjoy some red wine.  Drinking red wine in moderation has stuff in it that blocks and even reverses the growth of abnormal blood vessels in the retina that lead to blindness on older adults.
  3. Eat brown rice.  Eating 3 cups of brown rice a week helps protect you against high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries.
  4. Walk more!  Walking actually helps your knees.
  5. Eat berries.  People who eat lots of berries are 40% less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease than those who don’t.
  6. Drink 3+ cups of caffeinated coffee.  Evidently, this helps decrease risks of ovarian cancer by 20%.
